Cotyledon tomentosa 'Ladismithiensis', commonly known as Bear's Paw or Pussy's Ears, is a unique and eye-catching succulent plant that belongs to the Crassulaceae family. It is a cultivar derived from the species Cotyledon tomentosa, native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

Leaf Shape:

  • Cotyledon tomentosa ladismithiensis is known for its distinctive fuzzy, paddle-shaped leaves.

  • The Bear's Paw succulent features a compact rosette of leaves that grow in a dense, overlapping pattern.

  • The leaves are oval-shaped and covered with dense, silver-white hairs, giving them a soft and velvety texture.

  • The hairs serve as an adaptation to protect the plant from excessive sunlight and reduce water loss through evaporation.

Flowers:

  • During the flowering season, which typically occurs in late winter or early spring, Cotyledon tomentosa 'Ladismithiensis' produces tall, upright stalks adorned with clusters of tubular, bell-shaped flowers.

Uses:

  • It is often included in succulent arrangements, rock gardens, or grown as a standalone specimen.

  • It is also a popular houseplant, suitable for adding a touch of nature to indoor settings such as sunny windowsills, desktops, or shelves.

Advantage:

  • This succulent is relatively easy to care for. It thrives in bright, indirect sunlight and prefers well-draining soil.

  • Due to its compact size and attractive foliage, Cotyledon tomentosa Ladismithiensis is popular for both indoor and outdoor plant displays.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate some shade. Direct, harsh sunlight may scorch the leaves.

  • Water: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.

The first two photos serves a display purpose only. The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 80mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
