And grow in deep pots to allow the tap root room to grow.
The stem of Agave Leuchtenbergia principis can grow up to 1 foot tall and 6 inches wide, and is covered in long, sharp, yellow spines.

Also known as the agave cactus, it has bluish green tubercles tipped with well- developed papery spines.
Yellow daisy like flowers are produced at intervals over the summer months followed by smooth green fruit.
Best in morning sun.
It is a solitary plant that has a cylindrical stem with spiny ribs, similar to a cactus. Unlike most Agave species, it does not form a rosette of leaves at the base of the plant.
The plant produces small yellow flowers in late summer or early fall.
