Senecio stapeliiformis, commonly known as the Pencil Cactus or Pickle Plant, is a distinctive succulent with an intriguing appearance and growth habit. Native to South Africa.

Growth Habit: Senecio stapeliiformis grows as a slender, upright succulent that can reach heights of up to 12-18 inches.

Stem Characteristics: The stems are smooth, cylindrical, and bright green with purplish striping or spots, which add visual interest and contrast.

Leaves: This plant has very small, scale-like leaves that appear intermittently along the stems. The leaves are often so reduced that they may go unnoticed, leaving the focus on the beautifully marked stems.

Flowers: Senecio stapeliiformis produces small, daisy-like flowers that are typical of the Senecio family. The flowers are orange or red and bloom from the tops of the stems during the late summer or fall.

Rock Gardens: Suitable for rock gardens in arid or semi-arid regions, where its drought tolerance makes it a low-maintenance choice.

Drought Tolerance: Highly drought-resistant, requiring minimal watering and thriving in dry conditions.

Low Maintenance: Needs very little care once established, making it suitable for those who appreciate easy-to-care-for plants.
